Montreal’s Smart Design Mart 2010

Earlier this month, Smart Design Mart – a curated showcase of talented local designers – set up shop for a weekend on Avenue Casgrain. The festival of sorts offered everything from jewelery and apparel to furniture, art, and stationary. I went on the last day, and was pretty impressed by the variety and quality of everything on display.

Pillows by Coucou Salut

Lalayeah‘s leather necklaces

Squid Wool‘s adorable felt creations.

L’apothicaire offers soaps and beauty products that outstrip anything you’d find in a pharmacy.

Earrings by Mélanie Favreau

DesignLump‘s little ceramics

Necklaces by Red Sofa (left) and Elaine Ho (right). (The robots almost made me break my No Shopping Before Christmas rule).

Katie Dutton‘s artwork and flags.

Tamé‘s cutout necklaces

One of Lost Myths‘ tapestries.

Montreal’s En Masse was also there decorating the venue.

Other merchants and designers included:

Château Gâteaux / Bruxe Design / Loyal Luxe / Paule Trudel Bellemare / Tyson Bodnarchuk / Bijougraphie / Aquaovo / Natalie Finkelstein / Valerie Dumaine / Mitz Takahashi / Purpose Design / Karl Kerschl / Dot & Lil / atelier b. / This Ilk / Miju / Uranium / Jack Dylan / TOMA / Studio Flower Power / Furni / Beautiful Decay / And many others!

I definitely recommend taking a look at all the amazing (and local) stuff you can get, and for sure try to get out to next year’s Smart Design Mart!

  1. Thanks for the photo!

But just to clarify: that Lost Myths image is not one our postcards (we have 16 designs, but that’s not one of them yet); that image is one of our tapestries.

  2. No problem! Sorry about the mix up, I’ve fixed the caption now.
