MFW 18 – Give me body!

MFW

Last evening kicked off Montreal Fashion Week’s Fall 2010 edition. The fashion crowd was out in full force anticipating the flash forward peek into what next season has to offer. We at yourKloset.com had the pleasure of taking in the shows of Nadya Toto, Marie Saint Pierre and Helmer Joseph.

6 pm – The return of Nadya Toto. Missing from the fashion spotlight for a few years now, Nadya Toto made her return known with beautifully draped jersey and lace separates and dresses. Form fitting silhouettes, asymmetric bodices and grandiose accessories (primarily on shoulders) created modern day Roman goddesses with an 80’s edge.

8 pmMarie Saint Pierre. One of Canada’s better known designers; Marie Saint Pierre has been at it for quite some time. She put on a dramatic presentation of mainly black and skin tone pieces. Body conscious cuts remind you that staying in shape is essential next season. I saw quite a few coats that most women would love and feel very sexy in. But I mainly liked her custom accessories, a combination of origami tubing and what looks like fabric strung beading…very interesting!!!

9 pmHelmer Joseph. Trained haute couturier Helmer Joseph put out his usual parade of whimsically intricate patchwork creations. Now including an eclectic array of menswear pieces, the collection had many works of art and some pieces that were more food for thought.
