Canadian Style: Montrealers Do It Best!
I recently stated that when it comes to Canadian style, truth be told, Montreal ladies are ravishing and have a great fashion sense. Sorry Toronto peeps! And there’s nothing like a summer festival to gawk at our colorful eye-candy strutting around in impressive style. Last year, GQ’s Gordon von Steiner published a picture stream of our beauties rocking-out at our very own hipster-y Music and Arts Festival Osheaga.
I attended the Osheaga Festival held at Parc Jean Drapeau this past July and yes like many I was psyched for headliner Mr. 8-Mile himself Eminem, eclectic pop sensation Janelle Monae, and quirky Aussie songstress Sia (which she is as delightful as she is talented). But besides the music, I couldn’t resist shooting (with my camera!) all the style spotted looks. With that, I’ve concluded certain theses when it comes to the 514 folks. We are unique and here is why.
Yes we do, but in a good way. At Osheaga, I spotted a plethora of headdresses and fanciful ways to pretty up your mane. Makes mucho sense to sport striking fashion waist-up as that’s where most people gaze at first. Wether wearing this season’s wide-brim hat or adorning a charming bow, we know how to let fashion go to our heads.
We don’t shy away from expressing our colorful side. Due to our innate hedonistic taste, we are easily creative with our fashion sense. A melting-pot of cultures attributes to our limitless self-expression. Individuality is key, Montrealers march to their own beat to create bold colorful statements.
We walk the walk. Anyone willing to don hot pink short-shorts knows the power of style. Looking good adds a certain swagger to our step. Be it our innate joie-de-vivre, Montrealers strut like no one’s business.
