My Top 5 Products

I’ve now been living in London and working at Selfridges for seven weeks, and as I dive deeper and deeper into the luxury fashion industry, I am learning more and more about the different modes and methods that make the industry what it is.  This of course includes the eco-friendly aspect of fashion.

As I’ve said before, being eco-friendly does not necessarily limit you to wearing organic or vegan clothing…it also extends to HOW you buy. Buying a new pair of organic cotton leggings on a bi-weekly basis still requires X amount of energy for production, and still creates a certain amount of waste. Instead, sometimes the better thing to do is purchase fantastic items that you know will last for many seasons to come.

Being privy to the shop-floor before store opening has its advantages. During my early morning perusals, I’ve seen the most amazing products that no fashion lover/craver/advocate could live without. So here they are… My top five for seasons and seasons to come.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Ukita Satchel

Never before have I seen a bag that I fell in love with instantaneously. I literally thought that without this bag I would die… I ached for it. So this past weekend I bought it and it is perfect. Its timeless… Black nubbed leather, with rose gold/silver hardware, and two straps (a longer one for cross-body action, and a short one that can hang off the wrist or sneak over the shoulder).

Tom Ford for Men, Private Blend

I’m not going to lie, I had a hard time narrowing down which scents I liked the best.  The most amazing thing about this collection is that it is designed to mix and match so that you can create your own eternal scent. And with his creative ingenuity and beautiful face, Tom Ford isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Christian Louboutin’s Nude Yolanda

I’ll admit, this option isn’t the most creative, but Louboutin’s longevity is undeniable. Not only do these nude heels make your legs look like their miles long, but the red sole is the sexiest thing I have ever seen.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream

There’s nothing trendy or catchy about this moisturizer, but the creamy butternut yellow liquid speaks for itself. It’s been a beauty staple in my family for three generations and I can’t live without it.

The Go-To Dress

I had a hard time choosing between the typical LBD and something a little flashier. Yes, the LBD is timeless, and for this I’d have to give Hervé Léger’s body-con bandage dresses the podium, but eternal style also refers to that dress that will always make you feel elegant, sexy, and confident… And sometimes the LBD doesn’t fit the bill. Enter Matthew Williamson. For me, his feminine prints, bright colours, and amazing silhouettes are unbeatable. With a Futuristic title coupled with the fact that I’ve been obsessed with sequins since 2005, this cocktail dress is one for the ages.
