Oh my Picolo

Do you have a school presentation coming up? A sale pitch? Or are you going to an interview? Then here’s the Picolo Projector for you! We’ve just received ours hot of the shelf and so far, the opinions are mixed. Obviously, its most amazing feature is its size. Regardless how many pictures of the 3M MPro150 Picolo Projector you’ve seen before you take it out of the box, it’s smaller than you think. It can be hooked up to any laptop and some mobile devices, however, what sets it apart from the competition is the 1 GB of on-board memory and a microSD card reader. This allows you to load all your Power Point presentations, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Adobe Acrobat files, and many other image, movie, and audio files on it and say “bye bye” to your laptop.

The Picolo is very versatile boardroom projector that can project images sizes from 8″ to 50″, however, for 40″ to 50″ dimming the ambient light would be highly recommended. The brightness is rated to 15 lumen in high brightness mode. It has 2 built-in speakers which deliver better sound quality then many mobile phone speakers. One missing feature is 16:9 resolution, since it only displays in 4:3.  This meads that any wide screen movies will show the dark bands above and below the screen. However, in all fairness, it was never intended to be a home theatre movie projector.

The internal battery lasts for about 90 minutes, so make sure that for longer presentations or trade show booth usage you take the power adapter with you. You can get the Picolo for around $400 and it comes with a 2 GB micro SD card. As far as alternatives go, there’s a Samsung mobile phone coming out just now and we can’t wait to get our hands on it and duel the two gadgets out. Stay tuned. Enjoy!!
