HYPE Hip Hop: July 2010

After an amazing run of albums from The Roots, Eminem and Drake in June, more hype hip hop has been delivered this July!

Earlier this month Big Boi’s new album, SIR LUCIOUS LEFT FOOT: SON OF CHICO DUSTY dropped.  After recently releasing dope single after dope single (Shutterbug, Tangerine ft. T.I., General Patton, and You Ain’t No DJ ft. Yelawolf), I knew this album would be damn near flawless! As I listened to it a bit more, it was even better then originally anticipated (congrats Big Boi). No fillers and all of the tracks are tight. This album is a must buy!

Another big release is The Game’s new “The R.E.D. Album”. This album was supposed to be dropping on the July 15th but STILL isn’t out. The Game is calling it his “best album yet” and it should be really hype. The Street Single “It Must Be Me” is produced by Pharrell Williams (of The Neptunes) and is really a hard hitting record. Give it a listen!  With Pharrell doing the bulk of the production, we can expect some crazy beats, and Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, DJ Khalil, Cool & Dre, and Timbaland complete the rest of the all-star production line-up.

Also, be on the lookout this summer for the possible (and long awaited) comeback of none other than Lauryn Hill.  After being in seclusion for what seems like ages, Ms. Hill is on the bill for the Rock the Bells Tour this summer.  She can also be seen here performing a live version of her classic track “Lost Ones” over Drake’s “Say Something” instrumental.

Make sure to check out my Radio Show “The Art of Blends” live online on 103.7 FM Montreal every Tuesday night between 1am-2am eastern time, where I play nothing but blends/remixes all hour.

Until next time…I’m out!
