The No-Garbage Challenge
I challenge you, readers of yourKloset, to test yourself in this age of consumption and excessive waste. Try to use one and only one kitchen-sized garbage bag this week – for the entire week! If you’ve been following my tips on how to reduce your waste this endeavour can be made easier. But even I struggle with this, and I’d like to think that I live a pretty simplistic and sustainable lifestyle. I convince myself that just the effort counts for something, and I suppose in a way it does. So follow these tips and be aware of how much you throw out and what your contribution to your neighbourhood garbage dump is!
- Recycle
- Reuse
- Compost
- Be conscious of over-packaged products
- Say no to take-out containers (coffee cups, Styrofoam, etc.)
- Eat your leftovers so that they don’t go to waste, or give them to the homeless person down the street
- Refrain from using plastic produce bags, bring your own!
Good luck and don’t hesitate to send your tips on how you achieve less waste!
