Building an Empire: One LEGO piece at a time

As you may recall about a year ago, I wrote about a little company called Dee & Ricky that made brooches out of LEGO. Let’s fast-forward a year, and see that this little company is not so little anymore.  They have added all sorts of new colors and designs.  I wear my heart every single day and I can’t tell you how many people stop me to see if it is actually LEGO and complement it. A lot of people think that they are overpriced because to quote many “ I have LEGO at home, I can do it myself” to which I reply “Good Luck”. There are special pieces that are involved and you would need to by one or multiple sets to make that exact piece, not to mention buy the pin backing, screw it in yadda yadda yadda… you’ve just spent way more than if you just bought the dee&ricky™ piece. PLUS, if you can earn the respect of the fashion world greatest minds with LEGO than clearly they are doing something right.

Two months ago I was scouring the net at 9 am, when I saw that Dee & Ricky had done a collaboration with Chanel (You know you made it when!). They had made 50 iconic Chanel lipsticks out of LEGO and made them available to the public via their website only. When I went to the site to order the lipstick, I saw all the new designs, the Pac-Man, An actual LEGO clip-on bowtie (my favorite of course), The $ sign, the musical notes and I instantly fell in love. One of my employees walked by and said those are so cool and got me thinking I am probably not the only one who thinks these are cool. Cut to October and dee&ricky™ are currently for sale at swUrl.  Come see them for yourself and see what all the hype is all about and maybe indulge in a yogurt too!
