P[h]assion Glam Rock Charity Fashion Show

Being someone that has attended and participated in many fashion shows, P[h]assion Glam Rock Charity Fashion Show held Thursday night at MUZIQUE, was a success. The majority of club fashion shows I’ve attended are usually disorganized and make you wait hours before starting, however, everything seemed to run smoothly from beginning to end.

P[h]assion is a HIV/AIDS fundraising fashion show organized by McGill undergraduate students. All proceeds from the event went to AIDS Community Care Montreal. ACCM is a volunteer-based community organization that supports people with AIDS/HIV. P[h]assion has shared awareness about AIDS/HIV for more than 15 years and has raised over $150,000.

It was nice to see that P[h]assion supported Montreal designers. All of the designers were Montreal based and some designers even produce their clothes completely themselves. There were collections from Camille TB, Dane Richards, Luv U Always, Mes Trois Soeurs, Roxanne Leger, Travis Taddeo, Valerie Dumaine, and myself, Rachel Chan.

Natasha Launi, our blogazine photographer, also attended and took all the amazing pictures of the show below.

The show opened with Travis Taddeo’s rebellious spring 2010 collection. He participated in Montreal and Toronto Fashion Week and is rapidly rising as a Canadian designer. The Travis Taddeo online store just launched and you can now browse and buy has his spring 2010 collection.

Roxanne Leger just graduated from LaSalle College. Her collection experimented with sheer and shiny fabrics, while pieces where layered and flowy.

My collection, Rachel Chan, was shown third. At the moment the collection is still in progress, but the collection will come out next week. I’ll follow-up on my new collection on my next post.

Mes Trois Soeurs is a collection by Kimberly Beattie. her line is line is hand-made in Montreal and available at boutiques in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver.

Camille by Camille Thibault-Bedard also just graduated from LaSalle College. She also makes her own costumes for dance and cinema.

Valerie Dumaine’s Spring/Summer 2010 Collection which is also produced in Canada. She currently sells in more than 50 stores across Canada, US and Lebanon. In Montreal, you can find her clothes in boutiques like Unicorn, Three monkeys, and Headquarters.

Luv U Always is a legging collection based in Montreal, by twin sisters, Tara and Gabrielle Garbarino

The show closed with Dane Richard’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. The pieces that were there from the collection were all black and filled with rows of looped fringe.

The make up was done by MAC and hair by Coupe Bizzarre . ALDO sponsored P[h]assion with shoes for the models. The music throughout the fashion show was suitable and gave an energetic ambience. The models and McGill Dance Pack dancer’s seemed to be having a good time and kept the energy level and audience going. Finally, the hard work of the P[h]assion Committee members was easily evident and I would definitely support their future events.
