Winter Musts for Men

With blizzards gusting from every corner, the temperature dipping way below freezing and people complaining for the next 5 months or so…this has to be the arrival of a Canadian winter (stronger, more brutal and pitiless). Like they would say in the new amazing HBO show, Game of Thrones, “Winter is coming” and we need to not only physically get prepared for it but mentally also. That’s why I came up with a list of Winter Musts that will keep a smile on your face when everybody else is booking a vacation to Punta Cana (because THEY can afford it).

Coats and boots

They are the essential to everything that is going to happen this winter.

Real winter coats that will keep you warm ARE expensive but think of it as an investment in your health and longevity.
When the cold and dampness rushes at your feet, it is definitely the worst sensation to feel, so don’t be afraid to spend your money on proper footwear. Be smart: go to outlet malls (in or out of town) or shop online.

That’s where you get to have fun. There are so many inexpensive winter accessories out there that you can permit yourself to buy more so you can mix and match in warmth and style.

Winter doesn’t mean you have to forgo your sense of style. Knitwear is there for us in numerous styles and colours that would fit with your personality and again keep you warm.

Personally, I am not a big winter activity kind of person (you won’t see me on some ski slope) but there are activities for any guy out there. A fan of sports should enjoy ski/ snowboarding or hockey. If you’re more the relax guy, a weekend at the cottage shall do for you. And the romantic should try a long couple’s walk or some ice skating, then stop off for a hot cocoa (spiked with your favourite alcohol or liqueur).

Try one or all of the above to guarantee that old man winter won’t keep you home-bound, cold or blue this season. Yes, it is sloppy and annoying but here in Canada it is our climate and we have to deal with it. Therefore, find yourself a great winter companion and make sure to be stylishly well covered and have fun!
