Last year around this time I had written an article about one of my favorite online retailers, ASOS, based out of the United Kingdom. This year I bring you Mr. Porter, the brother to high-end e-tailer Net-A-Porter. Net-A-Porter was one of the first websites to make high-end brands accessible no matter where you lived. Many thought this wouldn’t be a successful business model, but boy where they wrong. You can go on the website and see a $1,400 purse sold out and $900.00 shoes with only size 12 remaining. Now, a couple years later, and with a perfected model they are launching their menswear website, Mr. Porter.
Mr. Porter isn’t just a website, it offers a range of products and services; think of him as your new lifestyle guru. With global brands such as Balmain, Burberry Prorsum, Jil Sander, Mr. Hare, and J.Crew, there is truly something for everyone (just after you’ve accumulated three months worth of savings). Can’t figure out how to wear what you just bought, click on their style advice section featuring everything you need to know about dressing for a black tie event or how certain garments should be cleaned and stored. My favorite section of the website has to be the Stylepedia, a fashion encyclopedia for novices and pros alike. They even have a journal section where they choose “men of the moment” to spotlight how much of a role fashion plays in their lives and work place.
