As you can tell spring has really been on my mind for the last couple of posts. In LA, spring pretty much lasted nine months of the year, whereas, now I will have to get accustomed to two months of sun (if I am lucky). Nonetheless, one of the biggest catches arriving in stores is the whole nautical look.

Band of Outsiders

Typically, nautical is a big statement from December until February, as many lines put out their “cruise collections” for those traveling to warm destinations in the below 30 months. However this year, nautical seems to be making a larger SPLASH than usual. My mother was going on her usual business trip to Europe and I made her a photo list of some of the things I wanted from Topshop and All Saints (much of which included numerous nautical themed items).

The “Shore Man” is classified typically by a white or cream shirt (t-shirt, sweater, or woven) with blue or red stripes, a pair of Breton, khaki, navy or red shorts/pants then completed with my favorite and appropriately named boat shoes. Nautical inspirations were the focus of Band Of Outsider’s S/S 10 campaign featuring funny woman Leslie Mann, Scrubs star and little brother Dave Franco and Community star Donald Glover.

J. Crew

Look for Stores like J.Crew and L.L. Bean to make a big comeback this spring. L.L. Bean has even brought back a limited amount of 1912 Maine Hunting boots (top) that did so well they are making more; shipping out April 8th. Whether you are spending a weekend getaway in Cape Cod, or navigating your way through pedestrian filled city centers, nautical is going full steam ahead.
