Falling Forward

DSquared

With the weather nowhere near summer temperatures here in Los Angeles, it made me think of Fall. I went through some of the Fall runways and want to show some surprising new trends. The first and most prominent trend that is starting to surface is the “Moto” trend. It’s a small departure from the rocker/hipster, but it’s a cleaner more leathery look.

Phillip Lim

I’m not saying everyone is gonna be wearing chaps and leather pants, but the MUST HAVE item for this fall is the leather jacket. It can be worn with almost everything and always complements your outfit. Caveat Emptor- don’t pull out dads vintage jacket, opt for the new slimmer, cleaner fits. A spinoff of this trend includes leather accessories most dominant the driving gloves. I’ve always wanted a pair and most of them that I have tried on are too old man looking. I am hoping this fall there will be some more updated versions like these one’s from Phillip Lim.

Junya Watanabe

Khaki’s are making a strong return this spring and will continue for fall; they are no longer just golf wear.  Also very interesting is the resurgence of Camo (a la Junya Watanabe) that has started to slowly make its way into stores and, will pick up speed to be back BIG for Spring 2010.

DSquared

The final trend is one that I will heavily be supporting, which is the replacement of the Blazer for the Tuxedo jacket. I like the look of it and its just classier and of course it looks great with a bowtie (shown here by Dsquared).
