Denim Dudes

Even though I no longer live in Los Angeles, I made sure before I left that I bought some items that would come in handy for this upcoming spring.  I actually braved the crowds on Black Friday at Barney’s and bought myself a chambray (which is a lighter material denim) shirt by Montreal Company, Naked & Famous (which, of course, wasn’t on sale). Denim is back in a HUGE way this spring/summer. Denim shorts, denim shirts, and denim jackets are no longer a thing of the past, and denim on denim isn’t only reserved for Jay Leno.

It is definitely a tough look to pull off, but to do so, I would advise pairing your blue denim top with WHITE (invest in a pair!), grey, or black denim bottoms.  I recently saw Justin Timberlake sporting a denim tuxedo shirt at the SAG awards with a normal tux and bow tie.  I loved it. It was one of those straight-off-the-runway looks from Dolce & Gabbana.

I think it was a cool way of switching up the basic tux. Who knows? Maybe I’ll try and pull it off at an upcoming wedding.  The shirt shouldn’t look like it has been sitting in your closet collecting dust since 1993.  Rather, look for more updated military/western styles. Denim inspired jackets are also a nice change from the usual black peacoat (as seen on Ryan Gosling). I know I stressed the importance of the denim cut off short back in May, but I do believe it will be even bigger this year. Spring deliveries will start trickling into stores in the next few weeks, so be on the lookout for all that is denim.
