Customized Street Chic: Dolbeau

It’s really inspiring when you see people you grew up with accomplish some pretty rad things. Take two of my friends, David and David, founders of Dolbeau, a fully customized, made-to-order tie and bow tie e-shop. They started with an idea of making stylish and affordable everyday ties and bow ties and then pushed it a HUGE step further, making the entire process fully customizable; from the fabric, to the cut, even down to the exact buttons. I bought The Beaudry (above) to wear at swUrl, as it goes perfectly with our store colors (you would almost think it was made for us).

I would choose a bow tie over a tie any day (probably because after four YouTube videos I still can’t tie a tie). However, one of the Davids came to the store to give me a personal lesson on how to tie a bow-tie; lets just say it always stays tied. My current favorite is the St. Zotique (below). It’s a mix of black silk on one side and classic tweed on the other. Each pattern is named after a street here in Montreal, which further reinforces the Proud to be Canadian mentality of the brand. Each tie/bow-tie is handmade in Montreal by veteran tailors and seamstresses. Another interesting fact is that no two articles are ever made the same so you are pretty much getting a one of a kind piece.  It is the perfect gift for the gentlemen that has everything. I am telling you to keep your eyes and ears peeled and perked on this duo, as there are only greater things to come.
