Spring 2010 Trends
Although it is still snowing, hailing, storming and blowing all over, spring 2010 collections are already beginning to hit the racks. Before we all start hoarding floral tops and flirty dresses to ease the pain of cold reality, let’s review the season’s standout trends.
Clean Slate
It is a new year and therefore time to start out with a blank page. We are not seeing straight clean lines as we have in the past, but, rather, have great billowing feminine shapes with minimal adornment. Skin plays a great role, with bare legs and cutouts from last fall persisting into spring.
Let The Games Begin
Designers looked no further than this years’ Olympics for inspiration. Alexander Wang is on the field with American football, Pucci has gone down under in scuba gear, and Proenza Schouler managed to make surfing and skateboarding fashionable.
At Ease, Soldier
The military influence is back this season–on and off the runway. It seems as though the flak jacket is going to replace our staple leather bombers (thank heavens!).
Less is NOT More
In terms of prints, fear nothing! Head-to-toe, mix-and-match! Patterns and prints are not limited to florals and pastels, invest in interesting tribal prints and digital designs.
Show and Tell!
Some girls may opt to adopt this trend with caution. But knowing (Montreal) fashion like I do, I know that most of us have no problem with a little peek-a-boo bra! Lucky for all of us, exposed brassieres are finally actually in fashion! So keep doing what you do best!
