Pressing the OFFICE WEAR Snooze for FALL
So…its 7 am and your alarm clock goes off yet again. At first, you think it is part of your dream and you can trick yourself into thinking you still have a couple of blissful hours of sleep. But then you turn over and realize it is time to get up for ANOTHER day of work. I don’t know about you but I absolutely hate getting out of bed in the morning, I hate it so much that I set my alarm clock an hour early just so I can press the snooze button 10 times. On the bright side, once those peepers are open we get the chance to choose from the wonderful fashion Fall has to offer. Dressing for work can get kind of tricky. You want to look professional as well as fashionable without breaking the bank. Here are a couple of tips that I use when getting dressed in the morning as well as some great versatile pieces that are perfect for any office.
Its all about the basics – basic pieces are the foundation to any great outfit. When choosing basics it is smart to go for the cheaper items and the most comfortable. Here are a couple of suggestions and brands that I live by.
Blazers – you should absolutely have a staple blazer included in your Fall wardrobe. This will be a statement piece that you can pair with any outfit that will leave you feeling chic and give you some warmth on those colder days. I suggest going designer for this one, but you do not have to spend tons of money. Many designers have included an inexpensive line to go with their collections. My favs are: See by Chloe, McQ by Alexander McQueen, and Sonia by Sonia Rykiel.
Little Black Skirt – you want to dress for that important meeting but don’t want to be uncomfortable in a dress all day. You want to exude confidence and class. This will help you get your way and succeed in the workplace. An LBS is just the right way to do this.
Shoes – Whether you are on your feet all day or sitting behind a desk comfort is a must. However, sensibility must come with a little fun. No, I am not saying to wear those 5’’ inch pumps you bought last week that you simply had to have, but I am saying to have a little fun with your footwear.
Accessories – They are a great addition to any outfit. Even if you need to dress conservatively for work, accessories are a great way to express your style without upsetting the boss. By adding a belt or necklace to that dress you have worn 100 times it will make it look and feel brand new!
