Recently I discovered a little phenomenon called Mad Men, a spectacular show of 1960’s glamor: booze, cigarettes, “sexy politics,” delicious fashion, and of course, the desired yet forever untamed Don Draper. I was perhaps two years later than the rest of the world to hop on this train, but after marathon-ing season after season with my flatmate, hours of dedication have turned to pure, unadulterated love.

It is incredibly convenient that one of the prominent trends for this autumn/winter season is a 1960′s silhouette, contributed by the stunning Christina Hendricks, the perfectly proportioned January Jones, and the curvaceous Lara Stone.  Drooling as the cinched waists and full skirts of Brit fave Paul Smith, Marc Jacobs, and Prada hit the gleaming racks, one can imagine themselves sifting through cigarette smoke and listening to the heavy ‘clink’ of scotch glasses. Or, give me my seasonal go-to of classic Ralph Lauren brown riding boots, perfect-fit jodhpurs, and a tailored tweed blazer, and the modern (yet equally as easy-elegant) glamor of Jackie Kennedy is one step closer…

Just don’t forget Tom Ford’s Private Blend lipstick in the delectable Cherry Lush or Smoke Red to elegantly tattoo your glass as you snap shut your handbag, and exit the room…a perfect lady…

Love this show. And she barely if ever appears on this, but look for the character Jane Sterling, big boss Roger’s second wife. YSL inspired dress in Season Two. Sartorial gold forever.

  2. Call me old-fashioned but that’s hot.
