LG Fashion Week- Jessica Jensen and Alexander Berardi

Canadian handbag designer Jessica Jensen and American womens wear designer Alexander Berardi teamed up this season for a Spring/Summer collection said to be inspired by Jean-Luc Godard’s classic film, Breathless. And wow, am I thankful they did. The duo churned out a beautiful collection, mixing Parisian-chic with a Nautical, all-American aesthetic, much like that of Patricia, Godard’s ingenue in the film. From striped, chiffon shirts draped lazily over a model’s shoulder, and paired with well-tailored, high-waisted trousers, to the gold, sequined harem pants that had me un-knowingly hitting my date’s leg repeatedly out of excitement, each piece was well planned, well-executed, and un-bearably chic. Though the aforementioned pants certainly had me tingling, it was a beautifully draped, and equally sequined gown that had the entire audience whirring with excitement. Equally appropriate for lounging by a cabana in the South of France as it would be for stomping through the concrete jungle of Toronto, this elegant, and very wearable collection will add just enough oomph to set you apart from the rest of the pack. And maybe even catch you a handsome, Parisian gentleman or two.

If you hadn’t heard of either of these designers before yesterday (and yes, I include myself in that group), you most certainly will be getting to know them in the future. After this collection, I’ll have pleasant day dreams of what they’ll be bringing us next for months to come.
