Winter Street Style

Toronto Street Style

After weeks of mind-numbing essays and exams, we were so excited to leave the library behind us, and finally step into the light of day. And what better day to step out on than Toronto’s first snow fall of the season! Torontonians are bundling up in the finest winter has to offer and here are a few of our favorites.

With our coffees in hand, we set off on our adventure, but it wasn’t long before we spotted this fiery redhead and knew we had to stop her.  Fur is our favorite way to add some every-day glamor to any look, and Claire is doing just that in her one-of-a-kind, vintage jacket. For the faint of heart, who aren’t ready to take on the full coat, fur accents are a great way to add some pizzazz to your basics. Check out H&M’s awesome faux-fur accessories at an affordable price.

Okay…we cheated.  We ran into our friend Tony and begged him to let us take his picture.  It can be hard to let go of that perfect fall jacket, but he’s making his acid-wash denim work, by adding a cozy hoodie and toque to take him through the colder months.

PS: Check out Tony’s blog. So good!

Shameless moment of the day: running an entire city block to catch up with these two. Nothing brings together an outfit quite like a well-tailored wool coat, and what we love about Mitchell and Kate is all in the details. A chunky scarf for him, and a great pair of lace-up boots for her.  And that hood! Wowza!

Like Tony’s denim, Tyler’s managed to winterize his leather jacket.  Switching the cotton oxford we swooned over in our last post for a flannel version will give you extra warmth.  Add on an extra layer, like his knit infinity scarf, and waiting for the streetcar might become tolerable.

Facing winter can be tough, but we’ve done it before, and we’ll do it again, and with style.  We are Canadians after all!

Until next time…

  3. Hey – maybe you can help me! My son, aged 21, has moved to Toronto from Victoria. I know he doesn’t own winter boots yet, and I’d like to buy them for him. Can you suggest what type would be suitable for the winter weather? He’s only ever had winter in Victoria, where runners work fine! He’s a casual dude, not one for over the top style. I appreciate your suggestions (and pictures if possible!)
