Spring Fashion for Torontonians

Spring came a little early for us lucky Torontonians, and you know what that means…? CUPCAKES! Well…yes, but it also means that people are joyfully stripping off their layers and donning their favourite spring-time staples. We’re talking prints, pastels, lace, and LOTS of leg. We decided to catch up with a few of our favourite city-dwellers to see what they’re rocking this season.

Jaclyn and Shenae

There’s no better way to kick off Spring than to bathe in the sun at Trinity Bellwoods Park. Running into Jaclyn and Shenae there was no surprise, as they soaked up the rays with friends and canines.  I loved Jaclyn’s vintage, high-waisted shorts, sheer tee, and fedora; perfect for the unseasonably warm weather. And Shenae added some edge to her adorable floral dress by adding a studded leather jacket, ripped tights, and chunky heels. The perfect outfit to take you from the park-life to the night-life.  Check out Jaclyn’s store JACFLASH at 1036 Queen St. W or click here for her website and see what everyone in Toronto is raving about!

Kate and Spencer

It’s not every day you walk into a party only to be greeted by a dapper young gentleman donning an equally dapper cream suit jacket (complete with dried flowers pinned cheekily to the lapel). But I was expecting nothing less from this gent when I stopped by to say hello and see what he and his equally stylish roommates were up to. I was thoroughly impressed to find out that Spencers’ suit jacket (that I may have been fawning over for the duration of the party) once belonged to his father. After being passed down he took it in, shortened it and wore it to his prom with the same matching shoes he’s wearing here. And Kate’s zip-up dress was one of those match-made-in-heaven finds from good ol’ Value Village. The fit is un-believable, hitting her in allllll the right places, and the bright pink floral pattern is perfect for the sunny days ahead of us.

When I lived with Adrien-Lee, she was my go-to-girl for fashion dilemmas. Luckily she put up with my constant door-knocking; letting me poke my head in to her bedroom for approval on my outfit before I even dared walk out the door. Though we’ve since parted ways, I can still guarantee that she’ll be impeccably dressed for every occasion and this was no exception. Every girl needs a LBD (yup, little black dress) and this number not only fits her perfectly, but is absolutely timeless, especially when paired with a great statement necklace (as shown). When asked what she was most looking forward to about warm-weather fashion she was bursting with answers. “Tons of denim, sweet floral dresses, bird prints (so cute), soft plaids (not so grunge), STRIPES!, cream colours, cat eye sunglasses, rompers, and a healthy tan!” From the sound of it, I’m gonna have to keep an eye on this li’l lady, and so should all of you.

Though, as I write this, the temperature in T.O. has dropped back down to a bitter 3 degrees (and I kid you not) it snowed today, these fashionable young things have me feeling warm and sunny and I can’t wait to don my own favourites in the coming months. HAPPY SPRING!

Adrien-Lee does have great style and if I might say so myself, has an even more amazing hair!
