Shopping in London

I moved to London three weeks ago, and my time here has been a blur of working, walking, clubbing, and more walking. I work at the Selfridges head office on Oxford Street, so I’m smack dab in the center of both high street and luxury fashion, but I’ve been so busy finding my way around (aka getting lost) that shopping has been pushed onto an eternal backburner. This holiday long-weekend, however, my roommate and I finally took a second to breathe and together we ‘shopped’ London. There are, without a doubt, some incredibly unique and fashionable places to shop, wine and dine in this city, and I will be sure to highlight them in the months (hopefully years) to come. It’s this week though, that something much more accessible in Canada caught my eye: The Garden Collection by H&M.

Now I know this collection was released months ago but as with all high street brands, Europe and the UK are a step above the rest. I did almost buy the red rosette cropped blazer before leaving Canada, but I was unsure of the Selfridges dress code and a little nervous to bust that baby out. Moral of the story is that I should have had no fear as my superior walked in wearing that exact blazer the other day. However, it is no longer available here so my hopes of owning it are pretty much next to none.  There are some other pieces in the collection though that are (almost) as amazing.

The following three dresses best encapsulate the Garden Collection mandate: to “provide an injection of creativity and a love of fashion into your wardrobe.” All garments are made from organic cotton, organic linen, recycled PET bottles and/or textile waste. I love the rosette detailing on the sleeves of the nude cap-sleeved dress and the bodice of white tube dress, as well as the light pleating at the bust of the nude tube dress. All three items scream summer, feel amazing and create a beautiful silhouette. I would recommend grabbing each and everyone one of them before they disappear, and if any one feels inclined to send me the beautiful rosette blazer, I would love you forever.
