Let it Fall

Fall has arrived, and what better way to ring in the crisp breeze, falling leaves, and impending turkey dinners than a fashion shoot on the streets of Toronto. This fall fashion forecast is calling for right off the runway looks that won’t break the bank. With pumpkin spice latte’s back in season, we need all the pocket money we can get.

Menswear – Whether it’s the perfect pair of vintage Levi’s or a great pair of trousers, take a break from those skinny jeans and enjoy some leg room this fall.

Colour Me Mine – Don’t be afraid of a bit of color this season kids. Instead of basic black, why not pair a cheeky pair of green trousers with your favorite faux-fur accent?

Blouse, Urban Outfitters; Pants, socks, American Apparel; Fur stole, H&M; Shoes, Aldo; Jewelry, Stylist's own.

Grunge Redux – Yes, it’s true, the 90′s have made a big comeback, and with it comes the long-awaited Renaissance of “Grunge”. So tap into your inner Courtney Love with feminine accents paired with “rough around the edges” leather and lace.

Jacket, The Reformation for Urban Outfitters; Dress and necklaces, Urban Outfitters; Socks, American Apparel; Shoes, Zara.

Grey Gardens – Unlike Big and Little Edie, these Grey Gardens involve a sleek and oh so chic head to toe palate of my personal favourite wardrobe staple; grey. Grey breaks up nicely when worn with complimentary shades like navy and black.

Shawl Cardigan, Vest, Mesh Button-up, Riding Pant, American Apparel; Boots, Aldo; Jewlery, Stylist's own.

Patterns, Patterns and more Patterns – Plaid on plaid?? Why not?! Don’t be afraid of a little excess this season. Layering patterns is the perfect way to take an outfit from “blah” to “ooh la la”.

Blazer and Shorts, Urban Outfitters; Mesh button-up, American Apparel; Bow and jewelry, Stylist's own; Shoes, Top Shop at Jonathan and Olivia

Sir, yes Sir – The military look has saturated the sheets of many a magazine for a while now, and this season is no different. You no longer have to sift through surplus stores for the perfect army jacket; Stores like Urban Outfitters and H&M have great options that won’t burn a hole in your pocket book.

Jacket and shoes, Urban Outfitters; Dress (worn as shirt) and Necklace, H&M; Tights, American Apparel

Back to Black – Who said head-to-toe black was reserved for goths and mimes? Take back the black in everything from cropped leather jackets, jersey maxi dresses and cozy sweaters. Just steer clear of white face paint and invisible boxes.

Jacket, Dress and Shoes, H&M; Shirt, American Apparel; Belt, Stylist's own.

Biker Chic – This season is all about contrast. Pairing this great leather vest with a sheer, chiffon skirt will have you covered from your Harley to the dance floor.
